Did you know Team Cartmells are proud supporters of the Penrith Beekeepers Association?

We are proud supporters of the Penrith Beekeepers Association and sponsor a bee hive at National trust – Acorn Bank at Temple Sowerby near Penrith … and we have just received an update from Rob, the apiary manager, to say that our hive now has a colony of bees in it!
Plans at Acorn Bank have been currently suspended because of the site closing due to Covid-19 and no volunteers being available. Once restrictions are lifted, our hive will gradually be moved onto the main decking area as other boxes of bees are transferred into hives and space becomes available.
Rob also told us that the bee on the landing board in the picture below and the blurred image of the other bee flying around are scout bees on their ‘orientation’ flight and are getting to know their new surroundings. This is great news for the site!
