AN EXPERIENCED solicitor has joined Cartmell Shepherd’s Wills, Probate and Inheritance department.

Emma Pringle joins the firm’s Hexham office as Senior Associate, bringing nearly two decades of experience and a specialist knowledge of rural estate management.

Emma previously worked for respected law firms in Manchester and Newcastle and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the global professional body for experts in inheritance and succession planning.

Emma’s appointment further strengthens the department, which is ranked in the prestigious Legal500 Directory, and deals with all aspects of estate administration, including Will writing, Court of Protection, lasting powers of attorney and trust formation.

Head of Wills, Probate and Inheritance Deborah Flynn said: “We are delighted to welcome Emma to the team. Her significant experience and approachable manner will be invaluable as we continue to support individuals and families across the region.”

Emma said: “I’m excited to be joining a team that is well-known for their specialist knowledge of rural estates. It’s great to be working alongside some brilliant lawyers who are committed to serving rural communities.”

After qualifying as a solicitor in 2006, Emma moved to Manchester, spending five years as Senior Associate at Cheshire-based firm Gorvins. After a period working for a firm in Carlisle, Emma returned to Newcastle, holding a number of senior roles.

Her broad experience has shaped Emma’s approach which prioritises getting to know each client and their story. She commented: “While managing estates is our day-to-day, for clients it represents a lifetime of achievements and their family’s future. My role is to help clients put plans into place which will enable them to achieve their goals. This process requires time, care and attention.”

Alongside her career, Emma is an active charity fundraiser, having completed the Great North Run on several occasions to raise funds for Parkinsons UK, a cause close to her heart due to her father’s diagnosis.

Emma balances work with family life, including her husband Steve and teenage children, William and Zara. She often plays the role of taxi driver, taking William and Zara to rugby and hockey practice and on the weekend can be found cheering on Newcastle Red Bulls and taking her daughter to music concerts.

Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors works with clients across Northumberland, Cumbria and nationally. It has seven offices, with two in Carlisle, as well as Brampton, Penrith, Cockermouth, Haltwhistle and Hexham.

The firm’s full range of legal services is available from all of its offices, delivered by its team of more than 40 solicitors.
